Name the Alpaca Babies Contest and a Fiber CSA

Posted 11/9/2011 4:25pm by Andrea.

Who said things slow down in the fall? I demand to know because that person is a liar!!

We've been up to our eyeballs with end-of-the-year things here. So busy, in fact, that we didn't get around to naming two of our baby alpacas. So we're asking for your help.

Hop on over to our alpaca page and see the two nameless cutie pies. Then come back here and leave your suggestions. Remember, all names of crias born this year will start with the letter B so keep that in mind when you put on your thinking caps.

Good luck and think fast. The contest ends this Sunday!

On a different alpaca front, we're slowly putting up the purchasing info for our Alpaca Fiber CSA. If only I had paid more attention in computer class in college, this whole process would be a little bit easier.

Oh wait, we didn't have PCs in college. We worked on something called VDTs (Video Display Terminals, I think). Little tiny screens with blinking bright green letters. That could drive you batty by the end of the day.

So, now that you know I went to college in the computer dark ages, please be patient with me! All fiber CSA info should be up by tomorrow night. However, if you are driving by the farm and see a PC come sailing out of the window, please pick it up and give it a good home.

I think a good boy name would be Bennett, or Bartholomew. For the girls name, Betsy or Beatrice! They are adorable!

I think that the black girl looks like a Blossom. And the brown boy looks like an ornery kid I had in class named Brody.

Cria Names ....
Bouffant: puffed-out, full. Just keep his/her head full and fluffy so people don't ask why you named it that way.

They are so precious!

For the girl, how about Beauty (or even Black Beauty - I loved those books as a kid ;) )?
Or (Lauren) Bacall (elegant but she sure knew how to talk...) or Bette Davis (those eyes!).
I also think Bonnie or Berelain could work for her. Or Betty Boop?

The roughhousing boy could be Bruce Lee or (Marlon) Brando. Or perhaps Bill Bailey :)

brown; Bumpkins

boy; Bow Bow

Bumpkins is the name I used to wake up my kids when they were little. And Bow Bow was the first dog I ever had!

Well Closeacademy beat me to it, but I was going to suggest Buster Brown for the boy.

For the girl, Bria or Becca.

I like Belle (beautiful) for the wee girl and Bruno (brown) for the wee boy.

How about Boysenberry for the girl?

For the boy, I think a German name seems appropriate since his dad's name is Black Forest. How about Berlin, Baden (the region of Germany that contains the Black Forest), Bernherd (German, "Bold as a bear"), Bruno ("Brown), or Beethovan!
Shannon said,

Well I think the girl should be named Brenna and the boy should be named Balint. I chose these names because Brenna means dark haired and Balint means strong and healthy. I think they are both fitting names for such cuties!

For the girl, how about Belinda? (Bella Belinda;)

And that boy. What a handsome one, how about Bodreau? or Balingard?

Bailey & Booker (if we're following the alcohol theme...)!

I'm going with Shakespearean names and suggesting Balthasar for the boy and Beatrice or Bianca for the girl.

Belisama or Branwen (Celtic goddesses) for the girl; Bran the blessed for the male. Bran was known to hang with black ravens.

Well, someone should be named 'Boundaries' while we still have the chance. Then when someone asked if anyone in CKW has any boundaries we can confidently say yes.

Buckeye and Blackberry.

As a former resident of the glorious state of Ohio - Buckeye is of course obvious if not already taken by one of your other alpacas. Blackberry because of fond memories picking and making blackberries around the Hover Dam in Westerville. Which we used to make the most delicious jam.

Oh how I long for the day when I can own an alpaca or two or three or.....
For the lovely little lady, perhaps Babette (sounds like someone kinda chatty, babbling about things)
and for the little guy, how about Bronson (he's such a tough actor)

We have 17 hives of Italian honey bees and no shortage of blooming plants for the bees to enjoy.
