Sit-N-Knit
We have to cancel this coming Wednesday's (4/24/13) Sit-N-Knit/Spin/Hook day. Once again, conflicting schedules make it impossible to be there.
But, please join us this Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for another open Sit-N-Knit/Spin/Hook day.
Calling all crafters. It's that time again.
This Wednesday, April 10, we will be knitting, spinning and hooking the day away at the farm.
Bring any project you're working on and spend a few hours working on it. The farmhouse studio will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. so feel free to drop in any time.
I will be working on my chicken rug. The rug itself is 100 percent hooked. It just has to be bound. Binding involves sewing of some sort.
I hate to sew.
This is not going to be a labor of love. But, hopefully, by the end of Wednesday, I can say I have a completed project.
The last Saturday of every month is "open fiber addiction" day at the farm. If you knit, spin, hook, quilt or whatever, you are always invited to join us for a true day of "Stitch and Bitch." I guarantee you will go home with some work done on your project and a million good memories of laughing the day away.
Yesterday was no exception. The conversation twisted and turned so many times, and yet we managed to get some things accomplished.

Connie brought her finished Halloween quilt for Show and Tell. Just a little something she did.
Holy Halloween, Batman -- this is some serious quilting!
And take a look at the quilting on the back.

This is truly a work of art.
But, Connie is not a quilter to sit around with nothing to do. So she brought a few little things to work on for her next quilt.

I may be wrong on the exact number, but I think she said she is making 166+ of these squares for her next quilt.
I think that if you gave me all the time in the world, there is no way on earth that I would, or could, ever make one, let alone 166+ squares that are so perfect.
I admire quilters greatly and marvel at their percision. I think I'll stick with rug hooking or knitting -- something a little more forgiving.
Jan came to knit, but was struggling with her pattern, so she spent some time with Annie for a bit of canine therapy.

I don't know who found it more relaxing -- dog or human.
Jan did bring a finished hat for Show and Tell.

This was knit out of a skein of our super soft alpaca yarn, hand-dyed purple and then overdyed a mossy green. She did a great job and the pattern really shows off the subtle variegation of the yarn.
Lee Ann from Midwest Fiber Company, an accomplished knitter and dyer, is trying her hand at rug hooking.

Lee Ann is a llama owner so I'd say she found the perfect pattern.

Corey brought a few pieces of knitting, some finished, some works in progress.

This is a hat and cowl she finished up, and then she was on to the next cowl.

I'd say there was no end to the incredible talent on display at the farm yesterday.
Our next Sit-N-Knit day is Wednesday, March 13th.
All you need to bring with you is your current project and a sense of humor. I guarantee you will have a great time.
We've had to cancel tonight's Sit-N-Hook at the farm. If you were planning on coming out, hold your horses.
Sit-N-Knit is still on for Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rug hookers are most certainly welcome to hook with the knitters. We are an equal opportunity fiber addict group.
As always, there is never a charge to attend Sit-N-Knit, Sit-N-Spin or Sit-N-Hook days.
And for those interested, there is still room in our Sunday, July 29th class: Fiber Processing. Cost for this class is $50. You learn how to skirt an alpaca fleece, wash it and then finally, how to card it on a drum carder. This is a gret class for the hand spinner that wants to know what to do with all that fiber he or she has purchased!
O.K. hookers, tonight is the night. It's free Sit-N-Hook night at That'll Do Farm.
We meet from 6 to 9 p.m. and all are welcome. New to rug hooking? Come on out and hook with us, we promise to be kind and gentle.
And Saturday is free Sit-N-Knit/Spin day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your needles or wheel or spindle and spend a relaxing few hours with your fellow fiber peeps. I guarantee you that'll you'll have fun, but be ready for some politically incorrect discussions!
We're knitting at the farm tomorrow.

The last Saturday of the month is always reserved for Sit-N-Knit, and tomorrow is our lucky day.
Join us from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or later) for a free day of knitting and laughing.
No reservations necessary, just show up and grab a chair around the table.
Hope to see you tomorrow!
Just a quick reminder to our fellow fiber addicts out there: We're hookin' and knittin' at the farm this week. Make plans to join us.
Rug hookers, come on out this Thursday, the 24th, from 6 - 9 p.m. And knitters, come on out this Saturday, the 26th, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Both "Sit-Ns" are free. I guarantee you will laugh a lot and go home with a bit more done on your current project.
If you're a spinner, needlepointer, crocheter, or any type of fiber artist, I don't want you to think we've left you out. Bring whatever you're working on to any of our Sit-Ns -- you are always welcome.
As usual, light refrehsments will be served along with really bad jokes.
You know that image that comes to mind when you think of a typical knitter -- an elderly lady with neat grey hair, rocking by the fireplace on a winter's eve while sipping a nice cup of herbal tea, metal needles clacking away as she makes a baby blanket.
Well take that image and throw it out the window! Sit-N-Knit days at the farm are not your grandma's knitting. Except for the herbal tea. We do indulge in herbal tea so that stereotype can stay. But every other stereotype you have is wrong, wrong, wrong!
This past weekend, the farm was open to anyone who wanted to come out to spend a few hours knitting. And thank goodness a raucous group showed up. Raucousness is always fun.
We discussed everything from our favorite books to holiday horror stories, and a good time was had by all. In fact, my sides still hurt from all the laughing we did.
Sure, someone was knitting a baby sweater. But they had the good sense to knit it in Ohio State colors and not the typical blues, pinks or yellows of most baby sweaters. I like a bit of originality. Take THAT Mr. Stereotype.

Someone else was making socks, beautiful socks. In luxurious-to-the-touch yarn.

Another knitter, with more patience than I will ever have -- and I mean EVER -- was making a stunning shawl.
And yet another knitter was working on socks, two at a time:
So, if you're a knitter looking to blow a stereotype or two out of the water, plan to join us for Sit-N-Knit days.
Spinners and Rug Hookers have their own Sit-N-Spin or Sit-N-Hook (No jokes there, please. We've heard them all already!) days as well. All are free and open to any skill level. Check out the classes and events page for dates.
All we require is that you bring a sense of humor and a willingness to transcend stereotypes!
Forget all those turkey leftovers. Thumb your nose at your Christmas to-do list.
Saturday is Sit-N-Knit day at the farm and all your responsibilities should be tossed out the window!
Except for your knitting responsibilities. Those are all-important and should be taken very seriously. ALWAYS respect your knitting responsibilities.

Those beautiful socks in Ohio State colors? Bring 'em to the farm and get 'em finished for gift-giving.

Scarves, neck cowls, mittens -- bring 'em all with you and knit the morning and early afternoon away with other like-minded individuals.

Or, if you're an overachiever, bring something really snazzy to work on and wow us all!
Sit-N-Knit day is always fun and always free. Snacks and beverages are provided, but you guys provide the yapping -- that's the best part and it's always guaranteed to de-stress even the most tense human!
So plan to join us at the farm Saturday, November 27th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or later). Bring your knitting, or your spinning, or whatever fiber craft you're in to and craft away the hours with old and new friends.
We look forward to seeing you!
